The Business of Design

Design Event, in association with Design Network North, has invited three innovative product and interior designers to discuss their work, their inspirations and how they've developed their business and practice. Speakers are: Giles Miller, Susan Bradley and Deadgood Ltd.

Giles explores unlikely materials such as corrugated cardboard and more recently brass. Since his graduation from the Royal College of Art he has been developing his product and surface material range and continuing with personal commissions from clients such as Stella McCartney, the Lighthouse Gallery in Glasgow and most recently the Design Museum, who have now commissioned production of his new 'Jamilia' wall tiles in brass for their permanent collection. Alongside developing his own work, Giles is also part of the Farm Collective, who have recently finished as designers in residence at the Design Museum, London.

After a successful career in the web design industry Susan Bradley returned to education, studying Furniture Design at London Metropolitan University and achieved a first class honours degree.
Susan creates original and innovative interior and exterior designs with a distinctive graphic quality. She is best known for her award winning intricately cut metal designs, used in interior and exterior spaces around the world, in both residential and contract situations. Her work encompasses furniture, interior and exterior accessories, products and lighting.
Susan has won international acclaim being selected for exhibitions by the British Council, B&B Italia, Design Museum Milan and the German Design Council. She has also won two awards at the Hidden Art Awards 2009 for her London Landmark Bookends which are a best selling product on the Hidden Art Online Shop.
