PechaKucha Night Newcastle Vol 4

15 July 2010, doors open from 7pm for 7.30pm start

Live Theatre, Broad Chare, Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne

15th July sees another unique PechaKucha Night at Live Theatre.  PechaKucha Nights are a global concept, born in Japan, which bring together creative and inspirational speakers who share their ideas, work and passions, presented within the confines of 20 images for 20 seconds each.

Celebrating creativity and highlighting design in the North East is the main aim for the evening and each presenter has a total of 6 minutes 40 seconds on stage, keeping things concise and fast moving!  With no brief, presentations can be as weird and wonderful as the speaker chooses, often ranging from things that inspire them, holiday snaps or favourite books, to things they can’t stand.

So far speakers include: Richard Liddle: founder of Cohda, Sarah Raffel: Jewellery designer and founder of Brazen Studios, Peter Sharpe : Curator of art and architecture at Kielder Forrest, Joanna Feeley: Creative director of TrendBible, Jeffrey Sarmiento : glass artist, Peter McGlynn: artists and partner and Creative Director of Solution Group, Dan Civico: designer, Catherine Bertola: artist, Richard Kirk from Polyphotonix and Brian Degger freelance scientist and founder of Lab in a Box.

Pecha Kucha was devised by Klein Dytham Architecture in 2003 and events now run in over 230 cities across the world all with the commitment to share design practice in creative environments.  Design Event is the official city organiser for Pecha Kucha Nights in the Newcastle area in agreement with Klein Dytham Architecture.

This event is brought to the region by Design Event, in association with Design Network North.
