Pecha Kucha Comes to Newcastle
Pecha Kucha, Japanese for chit-chat, was founded in Tokyo in 2003 by Klein Dytham Architecture. Since then Pecha Kucha nights have taken place all over the world in Berlin, New York, San Francisco, LA, London and Sydney.
On the 12th December 2006 Dott 07 (Designs of the time) brings Pecha Kucha to Newcastle for a fast paced evening of fun, free drinks and a collection of inspirational images and stories by some of the most influential people in the creative industries.
The format of the evening involves 12 speakers from design, architecture, art, music and photography each talking about 20 slides for 20 seconds per slide. There is no brief and images can be as obscure or as sane as the speaker chooses, they often range from things that inspire them; a holiday snap, their favourite cartoon, football team or something they can't stand.
The Newcastle leg will take place on 12th December at the St Vincent De Paul Centre, Newgate Street, Newcastle (opposite The Tanners) starting at 19.00 until 23.00.
The evening will be hosted by Max Fraser, Design Writer and Curator. Speakers confirmed include:
Paul Smith (Maximo Park)
William Russell, (Pentagram)
Ewen Spencer (Photographer)
Alastair Fuad Luke (Sustainable Design Curator)
Mark Dytham (Klein Dytham Architecture, Founder of Pecha Kucha)
Max Lamb (Product Designer)
