18 September - 28 October
‘Design 4 Science’ explores the impact of design in communicating scientific breakthroughs and how new scientific advances have inspired designers. Featuring new commissions by multimedia designer Daniel Brown; leading lighting designer Paul Cocksedge; and graphic designer Andy Altman. Curated by Shirley Wheeler at the University of Sunderland, the exhibition also brings to public attention the post-war archive of drawings, sketches, models, computer graphics and animation from the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, designs produced for the 1951 Festival of Britain, and winning entries from the National Design4Science Student competition. Supported by the Wellcome Trust
