WalkRide a talk by City ID and Cartlidge Levene

Ever thought about why we move around our city the way we do?
As part of Architecture Week 2007, Design Event have invited City ID and Cartlidge Levene to talk about their award winning work for NewcastleGateshead including the Quaylink bus branding, bus shelters, maps and signage. Their approach is to develop unique design, information and wayfinding solutions to fully integrate people, movement and places. Basically to make it easier for visitors to the city to know where they're going.

In 2002 NewcastleGateshead commissioned a scoping study to develop a visitor information initiative to promote NewcastleGateshead as one destination with one visitor information system and one management and maintenance system.

City ID were chosen to work with the steering group to develop the initiative. The results have already made an impact and the design team were awarded the Best in Book for visual communication design by the Creative Review Annual and the map was selected as best overall winner at the Howard Smith Paper Graphic Design and Print Awards.

Other projects include Bristol Legible City and a new wayfinding system for the Barbican theatre.

Wednesday 20 June 2007, 18:30, doors open 18:00.
