DE07 TALK SERIES IN ASSOCIATION WITH NESTA
DE07 are proud to announce an innovative series of talks which will take place throughout the festival period. In association with NESTA (National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts), DE07 have invited high profile designers and practitioners to talk about their work and issues which are pertinent in design today.
The DE07 talk series offers you the opportunity to be challenged, inspired and no doubt entertained in the beautifully designed Dance City building, all accompanied by a free glass of wine! We know, we know, we're far too good to you!
1. CREATIVE COMMUNITIES
How can we nurture creative communities for people working across design sectors and the public? Scott Burnham will talk about 3 projects including Urban Play a collaboration with Droog Design, Village Underground an innovative workspace for creatives in London, and a project in Amsterdam launching in September 2007 looking at public involvement in design from the design of public spaces to engaging with exhibitions and events.

2.THE BUSINESS OF DESIGN: WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE A SUCCESSFUL DESIGNER?
Lee McCormack, author and founder of Designers are Wankers, interviews Daisy de Villeneuve and Max Lamb to find out how they have developed their careers in design and to look at more of their innovative work.Daisy has written and illustrated 2 books 'He Said She Said' and 'I told you so' and has collaborated with Moet and Chandon, topshop, Nike and the Victoria and Albert musum. Max Lamb, who originally trained at Northumbria University, has worked for Tom Dixon, and exhibited at the Design museum and currently at Design Miami Basel with his innovative ‘one off’ pewter stools.

3. SLOW, LOCAL, BEAUTIFUL: EMERGING WAYS OF DESIGNING
How can we move away from our current throw away culture to create greater value? And with greater awareness of ‘food miles’ how can we look at more ‘local’ production? What does sustainable design really mean?
Chaired by (re) design, Alistair Fuad Luke, author of the ‘eco Design Handbook’ and Vice president of SlowLab will discuss these issues and the concept of Slow design.

4. PUSHING BOUNDARIES
Andy Altmann from Why Not Associates will discuss the development of the agency- pushing boundaries with regard to both disciplines and innovation across environments, graphics, communication, public art and interiors.
