Cath Ball is a young British designer maker based in Thursby, Carlisle. (originally from west Yorkshire) She graduated from Cumbria institute of the arts in 2004 with an Applied Arts degree and has been developing her skills using porcelain clay ever since . Since graduating Cath has taken part in many exhibition and fairs such as Made10 in Brighton, Country living in Glasgow & London. She has also taken part in local shows such as potfest in Cumbria and designer markets at the holy biscuit factory Newcastle.

The Stitched ceramics collection challenges conventional ceramics through the development of an innovative technique which involves hand stitching onto the surface of the clay.

She uses a verity of techniques such as hand building and slip casting, drawing inspiration from textiles using textures in fabrics, buttons and stitching which add decoration to the surface of the clay.

The Stitched ceramics collection challenges conventional ceramics through the development of an innovative technique which involves hand stitching onto the surface of the clay. I uses a verity of techniques such as hand building and slip casting. I draw inspiration from textiles using textures in fabrics, buttons and stitching to add decoration to the surface of the clay. The Lace Collection is hand built by carefully rolling out fine slabs of clay, each one differs is size and shape due to its handmade quality.
