Design Event MART is a curated selling exhibition showcasing the best in contemporary design from the North of England.  For the past 3 years, Design Event MART has been held at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead and has acted as a centre-point of the Design Event Festival.

Between April - June 2011 Design Event requested submissions of innovative and high quality design led work from designers and makers based in the North of England in the areas of furniture, surface, textile, lighting, product, jewellery, fashion, accessory and print.

Design Event Presents

Design Event Presents was a new initiative at the Design Event MART.  Design Event commissioned a product or range of products from eight designers based in the North of England reflecting the festival theme of Happiness. Each selected designer was offered a grant towards the development of their product/range.
