Lazerian is a creative practice that began in 2006, set up by Liam Hopkins, a Manchester born designer-maker.
Based in an ex- hat factory in Manchester, the practice is focused on the creation of functional objects through playful investigation of materials and processes, and seeks to imbue objects with a bit of soul.
The practice works on a variety of projects, including furniture, interiors, and objects. Lazerian designs are available from selected retailers and the online shop.
Jewelry Form of nature- Inspired by the animals and the sea creatures which were discovered by the famous German biologist Ernst Haeckel in the late 1800's, Lazerian’s latest in jewelry has indeed integrated the same quasi-organic form into the bangles. Carefully constructed at the Lazerian atelier, only the highest quality polypropylene is contorted with brass fittings into the sinuous designs that promises to last for years to come. Despite its form, the polypropylene’s surprisingly lightweight yet durable quality makes it a safe buy even for the careless. The Environmentally conscious would be pleased to know that the material is indeed recyclable.
Gerald - Gerald was created three years ago as a means of converting the Lazerian logo into a 3D object. Creating Gerald was a difficult process in finding the right form and construction that would represent the logo well. After his creation Gerald received a huge amount of attention and press so because of this we decided to make Gerald into a DIY kit for people to make themselves. Gerald has continued to be a success and from this there have been different illustrations created such as the multicoloured pixel and the Dazzle Gerald.
In celebration of his success Lazerian has decided to create a Gerald exhibition collaborating with 50 different artists and illustrators to create their own Gerald design which will all be taking place later in the year.
