Design Event Festival 2011

14-18 October

Theme: Happiness

Design Event returns this October with the festival theme of Happiness! With new exhibitions, workshops and talks this year's event promises to be our most diverse and interesting to date.

The core element of the Design Event Festival consists of the following exhibitions showcased on floor one of the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art between October 14 - 16:

- Design Event MART - Our annual selling exhibition of new work being made in the North of England. For a full list of exhibitors showcasing products at this year's MART, please click here.

- Design Event Presents -  A new element of the Design Event Festival is Design Event Presents, a collection of seven newly commissioned pieces reflecting the festival theme of Happiness.

- First Hand - This is the first collection of commercial products from the internationally renowned Design Products course at the Royal College of Art, London.  The pieces in the collection have been selected by course leaders Tord Boontje and Gareth Williams.  In addition to pieces by recent graduates, the collection includes works by the College’s established faculty, including design partnership El Ultimo Grito. Design Event will show a selection of both collections for the first time in the UK outside London. To see some examples of work from the First Hand collection please click here.

- Noma Bar: Cut It Out - Cut It Out is a major new exhibition of work from London based Israeli born graphic designer, Noma Bar.

These four elements of the festival run alongside a number of associated events, more details of which will follow very soon.
