Bettina Nissen is a UK based product designer creating contemporary home and giftware with a twist. Her pieces often feature contrasting elements and diverse materials with the aim of creating curious, thoughtful and witty contemporary designs. With an eye for observation she extracts everyday symbols or routines incorporating them into her designs. Infusing simple, functional forms with humour, Nissen’s products intend to generate subtle shifts in our perception of daily life objects.
Born in Germany, Bettina Nissen earned her MA from the University of Art and Design Halle Germany and studied at the Danish Design School in Copenhagen before working for Boym Partners in New York and Cohda Design in Newcastle. Her designs have been exhibited internationally in the US, Europe and the UK.
