PART-TIME ADMINISTRATOR
Design Event is an annual festival that showcases the best work from across all design disciplines. We have recently received funding to continue our annual programme for the next 2 years and are looking for a part time administrator to join this tight knit, dynamic and dedicated team to assist in the effective and efficient delivery of our programmes.
Design Event was founded in 2005, with the Design Event festival DE05 which grew from a collection of designers wanting to showcase the high quality design coming out of the North East. From these grass roots the festival has steadily grown year on year and in 2007 Incorporated 28 exhibitions and events and resulted in 43,245 visitors. 2007 also saw the development of the Design Event Talks programme. Feedback and attendance at the events was very strong and we have integrated this activity into our annual programme.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
Design Event has 3 key aims:
- To celebrate design in the North East and raise knowledge and understanding of design.
- to support regional designers, and develop a sustainable supportive design community.
- to put the North East on the map as a hotbed of design talent and creativity across design disciplines
Objectives:
- Bring external exhibitions to the region that delight and inspire.
- Showcase high quality regional design talent.
- Encourage designers in the region to be creative and raise their game.
- Provide personal development and networking opportunities for designers
For 2008 and 2009 the Design Event programme will consist of an annual programme of talks throughout the year and a region-wide design festival in October each year. For more information about Design Event, please visit www.design-event.co.uk
You will be responsible for the following tasks:
Financial
Maintaining financial records
Managing quotes, purchase order and invoice systems
Collating data for funding claims and monitoring reports
Administrative
General administrative support
Arranging travel and accommodation for speakers and artists
Supporting on marketing campaigns
Events
Co-ordination of logistics for events
Support on festival and events delivery
Support with evaluation of events
Managing invite lists and RSVPs
Person specification
A positive and organised person with some experience of managing financial systems and working on events, who is able to manage their own workload and has strong communication skills.
Salary
£17,000 (pro-rata)
Tenure
2-year contract with a 3 month initial probationary period.
Hours
15 hours per week - days are flexible, to be agreed prior to start
